Home Energy Efficiency

  • Aging in Place(PPTX, 8MB) - Your home can be your haven and a technology hub. The City of Centennial wants residents to thrive in their homes as long as they wish, no matter their age or circumstance.
  • LED Lighting - LEDs, especially ENERGY STAR®-qualified products, typically use 70 to 90% less energy and last at least 15 times longer than the traditional incandescent bulbs they replace.* Xcel Energy has teamed up with participating retailers to bring you special discounts – save up to $3 on select models of LEDs.   • *Energy Star - Confused about LED Lighting? Watch this LED shopping tips video to learn more about LED shapes, lumens and color temperature.
  • Refrigerator Recycling - Recycle your old fridge or freezer and make a cool $50! Try a safe, helpful way to get rid of that old, still-functional fridge or freezer. If you’re an Xcel Energy electricity customer, they’ll come pick it up and recycle it for free. You’ll make some extra cash, save money on future energy bills and help the environment.   • Home Energy Squad® - For just $50, the Home Energy Squad will come to your home and swap out traditional incandescent light bulbs for LEDs, install a programmable thermostat, weather-strip a drafty door, install energy-efficient shower heads and aerators and more.   • Heating & Cooling Efficiency - Heating and cooling your home can account for 50 percent of your energy bill. Xcel Energy can help you save through rebates for high efficiency air conditioning, upgrading your furnace, high efficiency water heaters, home insulation and more.   • Water Heater Rebates - You can turn hot water into cold, hard cash. Earn a rebate on a high-efficiency natural gas or electric water heater that can help you save energy and money. Water heaters are typically your second largest energy consumer in your home, consuming 18% of the energy you use.
  • Arapahoe County Weatherization Division - The Arapahoe County Weatherization Division installs free energy conservation measures and energy-efficient appliances in low-income households in Adams County and Arapahoe County. The program helps eligible residents to conserve energy and save money on heating and cooling bills, while improving the comfort of their homes year-round.   • Colorado LEAP Program - The Colorado LEAP program is a federally funded state-supervised, county-administered system and is designed to assist with your winter heating costs.
  • Energy Resource Center (ERC) - The ERC helps income-qualified people stay warm and safe. Many people have difficulty with high heating costs, poorly operating furnaces and inadequate insulation in their homes. ERC helps to repair furnaces and weatherizes homes to lower energy cost. Lives are saved by preventing carbon monoxide poisoning.
