Get to Know Mayor Stephanie Piko
Stephanie Piko has served as the third Mayor of Centennial, Colorado, since January 2018, following six years on the City Council representing District 4. Her journey into public service was driven by her deep commitment to Centennial’s core values and mission, ensuring the City's strategic planning for a sustainable, inclusive and innovative future. Mayor Piko’s leadership has positioned Centennial as a regional leader in infrastructure, community development and technology.
One of Mayor Piko’s top priorities has been investing in smart city initiatives and technological advancements to improve the resilience and efficiency of Centennial's infrastructure. From AI-driven traffic management systems to implementing smart public services, her leadership has ushered in a new era of innovation for Centennial, making it a model for cities across the state.
Mayor Piko has served on the National League of Cities (NLC) Board of Directors and continues her involvement through the NLC Advisory Council and the NLC Research Advisory Committee. She also co-chairs the first joint committee between the NLC and the National Governors Association on Workforce Development, advocating for policies that support local governments on a national stage.
Outside of City Hall, Mayor Piko holds leadership positions on numerous state and regional boards, including the Denver South Economic Development Partnership, where she serves on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Denver South Transportation Management Association. She also serves on the Metro Mayors Caucus Executive Board and the Mile High Flood District, highlighting her commitment to fostering collaboration and driving impactful solutions for Centennial and the surrounding region.
A Centennial resident since 2001, Stephanie and her husband, Dr. James Piko, have proudly raised their two sons, Austin and Conner, in the community they call home. Her family’s passion for the outdoors is matched by her dedication to making Centennial a place where residents can thrive. Recognized as the 2019 Aurora Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year and The Villager’s 2022 Woman of the Year, Mayor Piko continues to serve Centennial with vision and purpose
