Inspection Questions

How do I get an ETA for my inspection?

The ‘Todays Inspections’ tab on Centennial's Self-Service (CSS) portal can provide timeframes for inspections schedule for that day.

How do I get in contact with my inspector?

Please contact the Building Division via email at buildingdivision@centennialco.gov or call 303-754-3321 and we can provide the inspector’s contact information.

What's the cut-off time for scheduling inspections for the next day?

Next day inspections may be scheduled through the Centennial's Self Service portal by 3:30 p.m. Next day inspections are not guaranteed.

Do we require drywall screw inspections?

Drywall screw inspections are required for fire resistive construction and structural walls. Non-structural drywall screw lids do not require an inspection.

  • 2021 IBC/IRC

What are the design criteria for snow load and wind speed on roofs?

Sec. 18-2-30.- Amendments:

  • 30psf non-reducible snow loads on roofs
  • 115 mph windspeed

Residential: 0.30 window factor

Is a mid-roof inspection needed?

Yes, a mid-roof inspection is required for all reroofing permits.

Do you allow photo inspections for mid-roofs?

Yes, please email photos and the photo submission waiver form(PDF, 237KB) to the Building Division at  buildingdivision@centennialco.gov.

What happens if I missed the mid-roof inspection?

You have 3 options:

  1. Submit photos and the photo submission waiver from(PDF, 237KB) for the photo mid-roof inspection to the Building Division, or
  2. Tear off 10% of the shingles and schedule an in person mid-roof inspection in Centennial's Self Service portal, or
  3. Provide a stamped Engineer letter in place of the mid-roof inspection.

How do I look up contractors or permits in the City of Centennial?

You can use the search function on Centennial's Self Service portal to access public information.

Do permanent sign permits require engineered drawings?

Yes. Learn more on the Sign Permits page.

Can the City recommend a contractor/engineer for my project?

No. The City cannot recommend a contractor or engineer to maintain fairness and impartiality. It ensures all contractors have an equal opportunity to compete for business, promoting a fair and transparent process.

Where can I find building guides and checklists?

Building project checklists can be found on the City of Centennial Building Division page, under the ‘Permit Checklists and Building Guides’ drop down menu.

Can a homeowner pull a permit?

Homeowners can only pull the permit if they are doing the work and provide the Homeowner Agreement(PDF, 177KB) when applying for the permit. The homeowner must also occupy the residence being permitted.

Any contractor or sub-contractor must be licensed in the City of Centennial. Please use this sub-contractor form(PDF, 243KB) to list all sub-contractors and submit to the Building Division.

How do I add, remove or edit contact/contractors on the permit?

Any adjustments to contacts or contractors must be requested in writing and submitted to the Building Division at buildingdivision@centennialco.gov.

What is my Occupation Type for a residential home?

The most commonly used are:

  • R3- Residential single-family home
  • R2- Condo/ multifamily residential

How do I request a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy/Certificate of Occupancy?

Once the final inspections are complete and the inspector has given you the okay to apply for a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy/Certificate of Occupancy (TCO/CO), the TCO/CO application should be filled out at emailed to buildingdivision@centennialco.gov.
