Energy Efficiency Opportunities

Our Vision:

The City of Centennial will create a resilient future for its residents and businesses through improved energy efficiency, enhanced connectivity, education, and cost savings.

About the Energy Action Plan

The City of Centennial recently completed an Energy Action plan through Xcel Energy's Partners in Energy program, outlining tangible steps for the City to move the community toward its energy efficiency and resiliency goals. Xcel Energy Partners in Energy facilitated a series of workshops with the Energy Action Planning Team, starting in the summer of 2018, to develop the plan. The planning team included representatives from Centennial's municipal operations, libraries, park and recreation district, Colorado State University Arapahoe County Extension, and the community. Three important focus areas were identified in the process: Residents, Businesses and Community Facilities. Energy efficiency opportunities for each group are detailed on this page. Learn more at the Partners in Energy | Xcel Energy webpage.

Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) allows building owners to finance up to 100 percent of the cost of energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation improvements with no up-front capital. Business Lighting Upgrades

Take advantage of Xcel Energy’s business lighting programs to save on LED upgrades and other lighting efficiency projects.

Small businesses (less than 400 kW peak demand) can take advantage of Xcel Energy’s FREE Small Business Lighting Program. A lighting advisor will come visit your business to identify cost-saving improvement opportunities, recommend upgrades, and connect you with a contractor to take advantage of rebates.

Larger businesses can use Xcel Energy’s Business Lighting Efficiency program to earn rebates for purchasing and installing energy-efficient lighting equipment.

Heating & Cooling Rebates

Heating and cooling can make up a significant portion of a business’s energy bills. Take advantage of Xcel Energy’s heating efficiency rebates as a retail natural gas customer and cooling efficiency rebates to speed up the payback period of energy-savings projects.

Community Facilities

Energy Audits & Assessments

Are you interested in scheduling an energy audit and assessment for your facility? Xcel Energy will send an energy advisor to your facility to conduct a comprehensive on-site energy audit, which is a comprehensive audit of your facility’s lighting, heating, cooling, and motors and drives equipment. You’ll receive a detailed report including energy conservation opportunities and the associated cost, savings, payback and available rebates. Audits range from $125 to $500 depending on the size of the building. Schedule an audit by completing the Colorado Energy Audits & Assessments application.

Stay tuned to see what community facilities in Centennial are doing to reduce their utility costs.
